Welcome!
The Strimbu Memorial Fund was established in the image of Nick Strimbu, Jr. His contributions to the many charities and organizations he supported during his life provided the spark that encouraged his family and friends to continue this legacy after his death.
Since its creation in December of 1990, the Strimbu Memorial Fund has provided millions of dollars in donations and scholarships. The fund also supports local economic development and many charitable organizations.
The Strimbu Memorial Fund hosts two events that help us to perpetuate Mr. Strimbu’s legacy. The Wild Game Dinner, held in February, is an event held to celebrate some of Mr. Strimbu’s favorite pastimes; hunting, fishing, NASCAR, good food, and camaraderie. In May, the Fund hosts the annual Strimbu Memorial Fund Barbeque, where 600 of the surrounding communities’ finest citizens gather to support our cause. The events have sold out since their inceptions, and last year netted over $200,000 in proceeds. More detailed information on both events can be found on the Fundraisers page.
As one of its main focuses, the Strimbu Memorial Fund annually grants twelve $2,000 scholarships, two $5,000 scholarships, and one $10,000 scholarship to local high school seniors planning to further their education through college or trade school. Leadership and self-reliance are the two most important criteria that are required in order to receive one of these scholarships. These requirements were established to mirror the example that Nick Strimbu demonstrated during his lifetime.
Our Mission
The mission of the Strimbu Memorial Fund is to perpetuate the legacy left by Nick Strimbu, Jr. The Fund supports economic development initiatives in the Trumbull and Mercer County region, provides scholarship awards to local high school students, and assists humanitarian efforts within local agencies, as well as to individuals. We aspire to give people a hand up, not a hand out.
