Each February, the Strimbu Memorial Fund holds its annual “Stag” Wild Game Dinner, which adds to our ability to perpetuate Nick Strimbu’s legacy. The event hosts 300 of the surrounding communities’ finest men for an afternoon of NASCAR and camaraderie. Attendees are entered into a gun raffle and also have the opportunity to purchase a racecar number for the Daytona 500. They can also purchase tickets for Chinese Auction items. Jeff Chrystal Catering provides a plethora of appetizers and a dinner fit for a king.
Each May the Strimbu Memorial Fund holds its Strimbu Memorial Fund Barbeque that has enabled us to perpetuate Mr. Strimbu’s legacy. The event hosts 600 of the surrounding communities’ finest citizens. The barbeque features live music, the Leader Scholarship Award presentation as well as silent and live auctions filled with unique items. The food is professionally prepared and reminiscent of a full scale Texas Barbeque complete with a variety of appetizers, spit cooked meats, as well as an assortment of tasty side dishes. One of Mr. Strimbu’s philosophies was that “a guest should never leave thirsty or hungry.” We try to uphold his philosophy in a big way. The event has sold out every year since its inception and last year netted almost $200,000 in proceeds. The key to the success of the fund raiser is attributable to the participation of all the attendees. Ticket distribution, planning of food, cocktails, and entertainment, as well as acquisition of auction items, are a few of the essential ingredients that are given the utmost attention. We believe an event will be successful only if its participants have an exceptional, positive experience.
